The business which is now Ansercall had very humble beginnings. In the mid-fifties, Lois Blackwell, a paraplegic, began answering one phone, that of her family doctor.

Because of her condition, Lois never attended school, but taught herself to read and write by watching the words as her sister read to her.

The Early Years - 1967

When her family was able to purchase a wheelchair, Lois was able to convince more people to use her services. A small increase in business enabled her to move to a small office and later hire one part time employee.

At one time during the early years, without an employee, Lois worked twenty four hours a day for three months without leaving her office. Members of her family brought food and medicine during that time, and Lois persevered.

She was determined to become self-sufficient. Because of her dedication and diligence, her business prospered.

Continuing to Grow - 1977

Equipment changed over the years from desk phones, each with its own distinctive ring, to wall phones with flashing lights, to the first switchboard in 1968. Lois died in 1982, but the business continued.

In 1985 the first computer system was purchased. It was expanded and improved in 1988, and every year since then. We are constantly updating our equipment to meet the ever changing needs of our clients and the industry.

Advances in telecommunications and computer technology have enabled Ansercall to expand from it original local service area. Our primary service area is twelve Southeastern states.

Like Lois, the same spirit of determination is evident in Ansercall today. We are proud to have that same dedication and commitment.

We often wonder if Lois would recognize Ansercall today. I'm sure that she would be surprised, but very pleased that we have come such a long way.
